About NIC Asia
Established in 2017 (operations from 21 November 2017), NIC Asia Laghubitta is a wholly promoted/affiliated microfinance arm of NIC Asia Bank operating as an NRB Class-D Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha. In 2020/21 it merged with Swadeshi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, expanding from about 120 branches to a nationwide network reported at roughly 286 branches. It serves members across rural, hilly and mountainous districts using mainly group-guarantee (collateral-light) lending plus deprived-sector and micro-enterprise loans. Funding comes largely from compulsory and voluntary member savings rather than public retail deposits, and its deprived-sector/subsidized lending rates follow NRB directives.
